Barr Community Shop
Our small community shop and cafe is at the heart of Barr village in every way, providing a focal point for the locals and visitors alike. The shop offers a wide range of general supplies, including Ayrshire sourced groceries and meat. Our locally reared lamb and pork are second to none.
We stock home-baking, produced on site, home made jams and pickles from local businesses. There is a Post Office and lottery, including scratchcards. There is a wide variety of grocery staples including chilled and frozen in addition to stocks of snacks (including gluten-free and vegetarian options), drinks, newspapers, ice-creams, sweets and chocolates. For the home we have a selection of basic hardware and home necessities.
The off licence opens at 10am and stocks a good selection of beers and wines. We can provide a licensed bar for community or private functions.
Our Cafe offers hot and cold drinks, hot and cold filled rolls as well as a range of home baking, but are entirely flexible. If we have it in the shop we will cook it for you!
We host coffee mornings for our senior citizens and free Wi-Fi is available along with use of our X Box and games in a social space for our young people.
In the café we showcase items by Ayrshire artists and craftspeople.
As part of our commitment to the community we provide volunteering opportunities for everyone. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and find out about village life.
Whether you’re on a 50 mile bike ride, have hiked along the trails or are passing through in your car, you’re sure of a warm welcome! Car/ bike parking is free, easy and safe. Outside seating is available for everyone including their dog.
